QuarkXPress support removed from FotoWare 7.0

written on fredag, september 25 2009

As indexing QuarkXPress documents in FotoWare systems is reportedly used by only a few of our customers, and more and more customers prefer Adobe PDF documents for long-term storage, we've decided to remove support for QuarkXPress documents from FotoWare 7.0. This means that Index Manager will no longer support content indexing, thumbnail and preview generation of QuarkXPress documents.

It will still be possible to store QuarkXPress documents in a FotoWare controlled archive. Searching for directory and file names will still work. A QuarkXPress document icon will be shown to represent the document.

If you have a production workflow that relies heavily on being able to content index QuarkXPress documents, we would very much like to hear from you.

We need the Quark XPress support. Most of our documents are Quark Xpress and not to have an indexing as well as a thumbnail would be very bad for us and most likely make Index Manager 7 useless to us.

We cannot make PDF files out of all the Quark documents, because we need the Quark files to be edited.

Please continue supporting Quark Xpress at least Version 7 and 8.

We have hundreds of thousands of quark pages to be indexed so index manager support is critical to our work flow. A switch to Indesign would to a tremendous burden not to mention the cost implications.

It is imperative we have the fotostation support.

    Thanks
